New Do

I don't know what it is about a haircut...
but I do enjoy them!

And this one is extremely low maintainence. My absolute favorite type of haircut!

It's the little things in life.

Oh...in the States it was hard to find hairdressers who could cut my hair well. For some reason my hair is hard to cut. Often layers would look like ridges. However, my hair is similar to Korean hair...so I can go anywhere and not fear that they are going to give me ridges for layers. One plus for Korea.

I hope that you are able to find something small to brighten up your day.

Have a great day!

To the Best Dad in the World

Daddy,

I wish you a very Happy Father's Day. I love this picture of the two of us. It was taken really late the night before I embarked on my adventure to Korea. You were doing something related to trying to copy Grandpa's Powerpoint presentation and getting some pictures uploaded from my camera that you guys wanted, this one included. I remember mainly because I was upset when I got to Korea and I had "lost" all of the pictures. They were not on my flash drive like they were suppose to be. I figured you had messed things up like you sometimes do. Then weirdly enough, a few months ago...I found all of the pictures and Grandpa's Powerpoint presentation. I guess you must have done something right.

Your family life growing up sucked. Not only did you not have Godly parents, but you got parents who were not there for you. God in His grace, rescued you from the path you were heading down and totally transformed your life. Shortly after, you met Mommie, got married, and started a family. You are a very good "Daddy". Though you did not have a relationship with your father, you have great relationships with your daughters. You love us well. Yes, you provided for our physical needs, but you gave us something far more valuable, your time.

I remember...

Rough housing with you on the floor in our house in Flower Mound,

Going to the pool and playing shark

Jumping of the high dive

"Helping" you outside

Meeting you for lunch at Grandy's, in Denton, and at the park

You singing the "Imput, Output, that is what it's all About" song

You dancing just to get us to react

You helping me learn how to ride my bike

Going with you guys when you had your cleaning business

Clearing the survey line

Receiving a single rose every Valentine's Day (that is, until I moved away)

Your faithful cheering at ALL of our home games

Watching actions movies when Mommie would go out of town

Going out to Beefy's and other restaraunts...just the two of us

You messing with my computer

You loving Mommie

Experiencing your hunger for the Word

and the list could go on...but I won't. I treasure the time that you gave us. Thank you for choosing to demonstrate your love for me in this manner. I will mourn the day God chooses to take you home, not because I did not have a relationship with you, but because I did. What a precioius gift.

I love you and cannot wait until I get to wrap my arms around you and give a nice, hard, long hug.

Amber Sue

Moving

It all started on Monday when I got to watch Hannah while LauraBeth supervised the Korean movers moving them from one apartment on base to a brand new (much bigger and nicer) apartment up the hill.

LauraBeth mentors me and I watch Hannah on Thursday's so she and Jeremy can have a date night...there is more the relationship than that...Anywho...I got a couple cute pictures of Hannah in her empty new apartment not long before the place became filled with stuff.

I think Hannah is adorable and fun to play with...and since she hangs out with me some...I figured you would want to meet her.

A basket full of great chew toys and she goes after the shoe...

so I took the shoe from her and gave her a great toy designed for chewing...

...but she just found another shoe to chew!

That was the start...on Tuesday I started working on moving myself. Keep in mind that summer school started on Tuesday and is from 8:00 to 12:00. So I have moved in half days.

Monday...help the Rhodes move...go the bed at a decent hour.

Tuesday...still living in old apartment...in new apartment, move Pam's stuff into her new room...redically rearrange furniture in both bedrooms...make minor adjustments to the living room...go back to old apartment and finish packing up all my stuff...go to bed around 12:00.

Wednesday...in the pouring rain move all of my belongings to new apartment except for the clothes from my Oakjohn, my pillow, and two plants...organize the kitchen...get overwhelmed about 7:00 p.m....press on...go to bed around 2:00 a.m....my first night in my new apartment.

I can't imagine why I was overwhelmed!

There are two more pictures of areas I did not share with you.

Thursday...get home from summer school around 2:00...clear out the laundry room...clean the floor....rearrange things...meet Jeremy at the Main Gate around 6:00...eat dinner with Jeremy and LauraBeth...watch Hannah (more accurately, watch a movie while Hannah sleeps)...Jeremy drops me off at the House around 9:15 p.m. where a group of teachers from ICS met to pray for our school...get home around 11:20 p.m....finish putting the laundry room back together...work on my Father's Day gift...go to bed at 2:00 a.m.

Friday...hit the snooze button twice on the alarm clock...not able to answer math questions at summer school because I am so tired...run errands until my hands are so full I am forced to return home with my purchases...finish running errands...meet Jamie at the Main Gate at 5:00 p.m....Go to my old apartment for my clothes, plant, and pillow...unload stuff the new apartment...go eat dinner at Chili's...Return home....upload pictures...write this blog...only to lose most of my work and have to redo it!...go to bed at ?????

Saturday...sleep in!....finish settling everything in my apartment minus my room...that waits until Tuesday when I get a dresser and another piece of furniture.

Pictures of my new home....coming soon to a blog near you.

Birthday

I don't like going around and announcing my birthday...in certain ways this seems worse...but sense I have no idea who reads my blog...I am not sure.

This is a reminder for those of you out there who are like me and can never remember when friend's birthdays are. I've known Kara six or more years now and I think her birthday is in September...but then I seem to mess it up every year...so I could be wrong.

Anyway, my birthday is July 1st. Just thought I would let you know in case you are one of those people who would be mad to know that my birthday had come and gone and you had missed it! If you want to know how old I will be turning...I was born in '82.

Hey...since I need help remembering birth dates...if you would like to post a comment letting me know when your birthday is...that would be great! That way I could write it down and possibly remember it then.

Roadkill

I just thought I would do a quick blog about Roadkill. I have photographed the Roadkill pile that is outside our our building. I took the picture from a window on our apartment floor's landing. Below is a picture of the Roadkill pile up close. Do you see anything good? If you will notice, there is a maroon plaid couch nearly burried in the Roadkill pile. Why is that the same couch from an earlier post? Yes. PRAISE GOD! We inherited a very soft-sink-when-you-sit down couch. We added our old couch to the roadkill pile. It has been out there a week now and no one has claimed it. I can't imagine why! It was so comfortable and pretty. This is the normal caliber of the stuff we find...but you never know when you will find treasure.
And treasure I did find! A small dresser was on top of those black things. I snagged it up real quick. Dressers are hard to come by. For a very short amount of time I thought about leaving the dresser for Christine (the person moving into my room) but that only lasted maybe five minutes. The thing is in one piece, decent to look at, only has a minor defect on the bottom right corner of it, and best of all the drawers open so smoothly! You can't ask for much better than that. So below I have posted a picture of my newest roadkill. It moves with me in a few days.

Why I Do What I Do

This is ICS-Pyongtaek's Class of 2006. Because we are a small school, during graduation each senior gets up and speaks. Every single one of these students mentioned how this school has encouraged them in their walk with the Lord. At the end we clustered in small groups around the graduates and prayed for them before sending them off. Though I only had the privelege of teaching three of these kids and coaching three others...their testimony during graduation and the hugs and words exchanged as I congratulated them afterward...are a good reminder of why I do what I do.

The Gospel

The Lord has really been stirring my heart, the power of the Gospel and challenging me in my belief about what the Lord is truly capable of ...
