India Reflections

There are a lot of things that I could say about India..but the best thing about India was that it allowed me to experience Alicia's world for short time. I now can understand her better and have a love in my heart for Mona, Erika, Sonjay (???), and Juma, Anita, and others.

What to say...I enjoyed India immensely. And just for the record, it doesn't smell bad...at least no worse than Korea. It's a commonly asked question, so I just wanted to get it out of the way.

India is full of people. I love thier enjoyment of color...and they match. Koreans enjoy color but they have an interesting sense of style. India is full of beautiful things and people.

I do not envy Alicia's sedentary life...too much sitting for me. I enjoy having to walk places and a job that has me on my feet all the time. After being exposed to Alicia's world, I am very grateful that I have a platform for the ministry to my students. Alicia and Lindsey have a great responsibility to steward their time well when their time is so unstructed. Something I know I would struggle with.

I loved seenig how God is working in India. Though a lot of them have never heard about the Lord, it is exciting to see how He IS MOVING. He is capturing hearts of Indians.

I enjoyed participating in a contextualized service. I love that they are exposing them to Christ's love for them through their culture and in ways they will understand.

I enjoyed going to the slum school and being able to help with the art lesson.

I loved drinking chai tea with Anita, Alicia and Lindsey's helper, and having her just smile and laugh at me,particularly when I nearly fell off the couch when I tried to sip my tea and it burned my toungue.

I loved Anita's hospitality. I enjoyed her kids entertaining us on the roof of their building. The laugh I got from the picture taking session. What a humbling experience.

I love Anita's smile.

I will always remember Mona, and her heart for people. What an honor and privilege it was to be able to meet her and hang out with her. She was such a blessing to me in the short time that I was there. I am so grateful that God placed Mona in Alicia's life and anticipate what the Lord will do through her once she is a devotee of Yeshua.

Mona's hospitality. Her yummy food. Her attempting to show Alicia how to make tortillas. Mona's conversations. She is a hoot.

Lindsey...what a joy. I enjoyed her so much. What a blessing her and Alicia are to each other. I am very grateful to the Lord for placing them together. She reminded me very much of a dear friend of mine Elizabeth. It was some good times.

And I could go on...and on...but I won't. I just loved every part of my visit. There really is so much more...meeting Alicia's co-workers...exploring Delhi...spades, pizza, and analyzing e-mails...sister time...resting...outdoor markets...the yummy foods and snacks...

I do not even know how to end these reflections. I have now been exposed to yet another wonderful area of this world. Our world is so large...and God is constantly expandnig my view of it. What a blessing and privilege that He has given me this oppotunity.

God of Wonders

By Caedmon’s Call

Lord of all creation
Of the water, earth and sky
The Heavens are your Tabernacle
Glory To the Lord on high

God of wonders
Beyond our galaxy
You are holy, holy
The universe
Declares your majesty
You are holy, holy

Early in the morning
I will celebrate the light
And when I stumble into darkness
I will call your name by night

God of wonders
Beyond our galaxy
You are holy, holy
The universe
Declares your majesty
You are holy, holy

Lord of Heaven and Earth
(Lord of all creation)
Lord of Heaven and Earth

Hallelujah (to the lord of heaven and earth)
Hallelujah (to the lord of heaven and earth)
Hallelujah (to the lord of heaven and earth)

Every take-off and landing I would start singing this song...literally...and even as I was in the airport. Never very loudly, but it always filled my heart. I wish I had pictures from the window of one of my plane rides this summer, but I had camera issues so the one posted was taken in Korea because it is all I have...your imagination will have to do the rest.

One of the things I love about flying is getting the window seat and looking out during take-off. I love watching the land below you get smaller and smaller until you are immersed in the clouds. I cannot wait for until the day I get to play in the clouds. Even better is when you are above the clouds looking down on them. It gives me just a small glimpse of the smallness of our world and greatness of my Lord.

I equally enjoy the view while landing, particularly in places I have not been before. I love slowly descending from the clouds. As you come down through the clouds it is like a curtain being pulled back on a magnificant stage. The closer you get the more detailed and beautiful the country becomes. Japan, Thailand, the USA, and Korea are all so different, yet beauitful. I love the God's creativity.

Every take-off and landing I would start singing this song...literally...and even as I was in the airport. Never very loudly, but it always filled my heart. I wish I had pictures from the window of the plane that I took...but I shall have to share these others of Korea instead because it is all I have...your imagination will have to do the rest.

Finally...India at Last

So...this post is going to have to happen in phases. I finally got some pictures put together...I will have to save my thoughts about Inida for another time.

The Lord has really been stirring my heart, the power of the Gospel and challenging me in my belief about what the Lord is truly capable of ...
