I have never posted about my JAK (Jamie Amber Kara) Support Group! JAK meets on Sunday nights in order to encourage each other in our walks with the Lord. We eat dinner (take turns cooking), memorize Scriptures, get in the Word, have things we hold each other accountable for, and pray for each other. We aren't reall a bible study...nor are we an accountability group...neither are we a prayer group...we are not any one of these things...hence, the reason we call it JAK Group or as I like to call it...our JAK Support Group.
Quick background on how we all met...Kara and I met freshman year of college at DBU in Old Testament Survey with Dr.Fletcher. Over the course of the next five years we became best friends. Upon graduation, God saw fit to send us both to Songtan,South Korea to teach at International Christian Shchool-Pyongtaek. We met Jamie some of our first few weeks here at Mission Baptist Church. Sometimes God sends people into your lives that you just "hit it off" with. That is how it was when we met Jamie. Jamie is a fellow teacher. She teaches middle school math at Osan American School(on base).
This weekend, the three of us escaped to the Dragon Hill at Yongsan Army Base in Seoul for a weekend getaway!
We started the day off by checking into the Dragon Hill and dropping our junk off in our room before heading down to the lower level of the hotel to enjoy some fabulous Oasis--perhaps the only truly Mexican Restaurant in Korea...AND they serve sweet tea!
While waiting for our table at Oasis, we ran into these friends from the House. They had the same great idea we did. They ended up sitting one table over from us in the restaraunt. Just when you thought you were escaping...
After eating, we went to the beautiful courtyard at the Dragon Hill to attempt to get a decent group shot...below are more of our attempts.
Not the best...
Better...enough of this...next it was off to shopping at Namdaemun Market!
Nothing too exciting here...but a picture of one small part of this huge shopping market...a typical scene.
Now...I am not a huge shopping fanatic. It is hard for me to enjoy shopping, but I actually enjoyed this excursion. We didn't stay out that long...but I got the bowls I was looking for...Jamie found the $10 purses for her sister...Kara found some dolls and a birthday gift for her roommate...we all found what we were looking for and more...all in a matter of about an hour and a half...very impressive...and I had fun...wonders never cease!
Us at the stand where Kara purchased her dolls.
Me trying on sunglasses. What do you think? These are the ones my friends insisted on. I am still deciding...
Eating Pineapple on a stick! It was delicious! I like this picture...perhaps not the most flattering...but comical.
In Korea, while waiting for the subway...you are to NEVER cross the yellow line! Keep this in mind if you are ever in Korea...if not, someone is likely to come up to you and tell you to get behind the line...hum...I wonder how would I know this?
On the subway on our way back to the Dragon Hill. I was talking to Mendie and Kara is trying to take our picture! That's the best smile I can do while talking!
This is how we spent the rest of the evening. We ordered pizza, watched a few DVD's, ate some icecream, and some other junk food...basically, we vegged out in our room. And that is the final picture...after this we got even more comfortable and just enjoyed the rest of our evening!
Sunday morning we got up and enjoyed a wonderful brunch! We then returned to our room and had our own "church" before checking out and heading home. It was a great weekend and a very sucuessful way to getaway from our normal life to just relax, LAUGH, and enjoy each other's fellowship.
I was thinking...this is the first time I have ever stayed at a hotel...just because. It was fun and definitely worth doing again.

I love the pictures! It looks like you had some GREAT great FUN!! You also look really pretty and cute in all your pictures!! I like the haircut. I feel like every haircut you get is different, but this one is definitely a keeper. Keep up the blogging...it's good to actually SEE you in pictures.
I did make sure that I was in the pictures rather than them all being of Jamie and Kara! I am growing in my picture taking skills.
I love you and will have to take you to Namdoemun Market when you are hear. You will enjoy it...and it has some decent shopping!
I LOVE your hair. It is your perfect cut. The sunglasses are a perfect fit too. I hope you got them. I think you did though. I saw them on you in a picture.
Amber I Love the sunglasses. My theory is the bigger the better! Plus they look really good on you. I hope you are having a great summer. Mine is already booked every weekend except 2. I guess that is what happens when you are planning a wedding. I really wish you could make it! Hope all is well and I am keeping you in my prayers.
