Sort of an interesting storyÂ…Attacked to our room key is a card that you stick in a slot right inside the door. This controls ALL the electricity in the roomÂ…the lights, the air conditioner, the power for the refrigerator, the power for the light in the bathroomÂ…Anyway, not realizing there was a light switch behind GraceÂ’s bed to turn just the room lights offÂ…last night, in order to sleep in darkness, we removed the key from the slot. This meant that we lost ALL powerÂ…no air conditioner, and no ability to turn on the light to the bathroom. I thought this a strange set-up. This morning, one of the girls who had stayed at this hotel last year, clued us into what to do.

We gathered together for a brief overview of the day at 8:15 a.m. and then over to breakfast. In Thailand, everything is cheap. Twenty-two of us can go and eat a sit-down breakfast of rice and duck for about $20.00. CRAZY. After breakfast, we participated in worship with a Thai church. We drove about forty-five minutes to get there. I asked if this was because we had a connection there…or was it because there are not many churches. It was the latter. I must admit this is a more foreign concept to me. Not only in the States, but also in Korea, there are lots of churches to choose from. It was a blessing to fellowship and worship at this church. Our kids had prepared a few songs and shared a skit with the congregation. After the service, they served us Phad Thai and fruit (mango, watermelon, and applepear). Communication, or shall I say conversation with the people there was minimal, as most spoke Thai, but it was still a sweet time of fellowship. After lunch, we went to see a temple. I must admit that I never climbed to the top of the 304 stairs because I wanted to look at the stuff for sale. About five minutes or so after everyone (most everyone) went up, it started to poor down rain! I must admit I was sort of glad I had detoured to shop and stayed dry! From the temple, we attended Chiang Mai Community Church, and English-speaking international church. It was much bigger (300 verses 30) than the other church, and though it was good…the morning service was personally a sweeter time of worship for me. After church, we went the night bazaar. Before we shopped, we ate dinner at the food court. We sat down, got menus and then ordered tons of food. Not only did most people order a fruit shake, but people ordered about three things from the menu to eat…and some even more! It was delicious! The whole meal for everyone only cost about $100. Once again, that’s CRAZY. After dinner, we had about two and half hours to shop before heading “home” for the day. Me and the five girls I was with, not only shopped but got a thirty minute massage. It was nice.

Those are my feet in the picture. Across from me Grace, Amy, and Danica massagesing mesaages.

Anna and Christine in front of the Dragon heads as the bottom of the stairs leading up to the temple I did not see.

Waiting for the bus after visit the temple.

Allright...so she was not part of our team...but she was so cute that I just had to take a picture. Her is a real-life Thai doll...she is precious. She was just across the street from where the boys are standing in the picture above.

Waiting for church to start outside of Chaing Mai Community Church

Tad and Teal Ramsa, teachers at our school.

Julia and Becca: two teachers at school. They helped the kids prepare the skits and songs they shared during this trip. They did an awesome job.

And that's enough for today. Tomorrow....let the work begin!
