Quarter of a Century

This is a little delayed...but I thought I would share what I did for my 25th birthday, which was oh...about 9 days ago.

My birthday started with a phone call to my parents...I tend to call them when I get back from the House on Saturdays (offically Sunday morning)...so my parents caught me at the start of my birthday.After talking to them for a bit...I went to bed.

In the morning, I checked my e-mail and had a few birthday e-mails waiting for me. I read my birhtday messages as I ate breakfast (a fruit smoothie--YUM!) before getting ready do meet Sara, Ann, and Ella at Mission Baptist (MBC).

From MBC we headed to main gate were they signed me on base so that we could meet the Caudles and Brent for lunch. As I was getting signed on base, the guards at the gate realized it was my birthday and would not give us the pass until they had called and talked to Chili’s management to let them know I was coming so that they could do something for me. However, in the process of doing this, we found out that the boiler was broken and they were not open.

However, since we sort of wanted Chili’s…and Steph planned a surprise birthday present that required us visiting someone’s house on base...we did that while we waited for Chili’s to open. She took me to the home of a lady who makes jewelry and I got to pick out a necklace and earrings for my birthday! It was fun.

By the time we were done with that, Chili’s had opened! Yeah. Of course we ordered some chips and salsa which I ate plenty off. I also ordered the BBQ Ranch Burger. I enjoyed lemon water…my favorite...and Chili's is the only place in Korea where I can enjoy it.

And of course, the Chili’s staff sang me happy birthday and brought me a chocolate milkshake, which I happen to love but only had a little bit of it because it was rich and I was full.

After lunch, we went off base and had a few hours to kill…so Sara and I ran a few errands with Brent. By the time we were done, it was time for the 1630 service on base. So we went to the chapel. A majority of those who attend the House also attend the 1630 service on base. After chapel, everyone always goes to the food court in the BX for dinner. For dinner, I enjoyed Taco Bell and I got to enjoy some sweet tea!

After the BX, there was a large group that went to see the Fantastic Four at the theater on base, but I did not feel like doing that…so I ended up going over to Sara’s house and watching The Guardian. That was over about 11:00pm…so Ann drove me home…thus ending my birthday celebrations. It was a great day. Only two pictures were taken…but I must admit...I enjoyed NOT taking pictures.

The next day...the 1st in the States, I recieved a few more birthday greetings via myspace and there was a FedEx envelope delivered to the school on Tuesday with a few more birthday cards from my parents.

And that is how I celebrated turning a quarter of century!
